Mahmoud Khodor: Beyond Product

The Builder’s Mindset

The role of a product leader has evolved. Today, it is no longer defined solely by launching digital products, but by the ability to connect technology, commercial strategy, and customer insight into businesses that can scale. Mahmoud Khodor has spent more than a decade operating at that intersection.

Based in Dubai, Khodor has built his career across banking, fintech, marketplaces, proptech, venture building, e-commerce, and cybersecurity. His experience spans organisations including Bank Audi, OLX MENA, Dubizzle, Property Finder, Cenomi, Further Ventures, and UNEY, where he currently leads Product. While the industries have changed, the challenge has remained consistent: building products that solve real problems while creating long-term business value.

His path into product leadership was largely unexpected. Beginning his career as a software engineer, Khodor found himself increasingly drawn to the decisions that sit beyond the code—understanding customer behaviour, aligning stakeholders, and translating business objectives into products people actually use. That perspective has shaped a career defined as much by strategy as execution.

Outside the boardroom, Khodor has become a familiar voice within the region's entrepreneurial ecosystem through Builders, a podcast dedicated to the people behind successful businesses. At a time when much of the global startup conversation continues to focus on Silicon Valley, Builders offers a platform for discussions that reflect the realities of building companies in the Middle East and beyond.

Rather than focusing on headline success, the conversations explore how leaders make decisions, navigate uncertainty, build teams, and adapt as markets evolve. Guests have included negotiation expert Chris Voss, Waze co-founder Uri Levine, former Majid Al Futtaim CEO Alain Bejjani, and Stanford professor Jeffrey Pfeffer, among other internationally recognised business leaders.

Across these conversations, Khodor has identified recurring themes that extend beyond industry or geography. The strongest companies begin with a deep understanding of customer problems, successful founders treat speed as a competitive advantage, and sustainable businesses depend as much on people and execution as they do on innovation itself.

That commitment to sharing practical knowledge now extends to his first book, currently in development. Drawing on more than a decade of experience in product leadership, entrepreneurship, and hundreds of conversations with founders and executives, the project reflects his broader ambition to make real-world business insights more accessible to the next generation of builders.

As the Middle East continues to strengthen its position within the global innovation economy, leaders like Mahmoud Khodor represent a new generation of operators—professionals who are not only building companies, but contributing to the knowledge ecosystem that will shape those that follow. In an increasingly competitive technology landscape, that may prove to be an equally valuable legacy.
